Creating the perfect finish for your bathroom

At Matki, we want everything to be perfect, right down to the smallest details. That’s why we pay real attention to the finishes on all our products, including those in our EauZone range. Our craftspeople use their expertise to blend the right materials and the best finishing methods to create pieces that work perfectly for your bathroom.

The material

Our standard EauZone shower screen frames are made of aluminium and finished in a silver colour. They’re then paired with handles, hinges and brackets that are finished in chrome, but are made of high quality, hardwearing brass underneath.

If you want to make your bathroom even better, you can upgrade your shower frame to brass too, with a choice of special finishes in a range of colours.

What’s so special about brass?

Brass isn’t just beautiful. It’s weighty and tough too. We use it because it looks absolutely stunning no matter which finish you choose, and the look it creates is far better than we could achieve with other materials. It also never rusts, so it’s perfect in the bathroom.

Which finish to choose

Our EauZone products come in a choice of polished, brushed or living finishes. But what’s the difference and which is right for you?

Polished finishes

These use electroplating to create the colour, which means the finish is thicker and achieves a captivating depth and reflectivity. They come in a range of colours to match your bathroom.

Brushed finishes

Brushed finishes are electroplated then hand brushed for a matt finish instead of a shiny one. You might like a brushed finish if you’re looking for something a little more subtle, or a more modern look. They also come in a range of colours.

Living finishes

We call these ‘living’ finishes because they change and darken over time as the materials react with air, water, soap and oils. If you’re after something truly unique, choose our ‘living copper’ and leave any water marks on there over time. They’ll eventually meld together to produce a fascinating patina, which will gradually darken and bring in dark brown, black and even turquoise colours.

And the hard graft?

That’s down to our expert team at Swadling Brassware in Hampshire. They have a wonderful plating team run by Ben, our Plating Supervisor. They clean, polish and plate each individual part by hand, making sure the finish is exactly as it should be. It’s a true craft that requires skilled judgement and good timing. Swadling Brassware make fantastic taps and showers too, and of course the finishes match our EauZone shower screens perfectly.
